Summary

In the news, Premier David Eby has requested a CSIS briefing on China’s election interference in Vancouver’s civic election. Eby has called the CSIS documents revealed by The Globe and Mail very troubling. Those documents outline concerns the Chinese Consulate interfered to make sure Kennedy Stewart and certain council members/candidates were not elected or re-elected. However, preferred candidates were not named. I had a chat with Stewart while guest hosting CKNW's Jas Johal Show and the former Vancouver mayor noted he’s been quite open about his view that Taiwan is an independent nation. Stewart also noted that if this development happened in another major city - like New York - it would be handled quite differently.
