Summary
It could happen now or at any time in the next 24 hours. That’s the fear of provincial emergency officials watching that giant landslide that’s blocked part of the Chilcotin River west of Williams Lake. Experts aren’t sure when or if it’s going to give way, sending a massive amount of water and debris down the Chilcotin and Fraser rivers. Evacuation orders remain in place for dozens of properties downstream. Those as far south as Hope are being warned to stay clear of the rivers and their banks for now.

RCMP have arrested a city councillor from Penticton for historic sex crimes. Jim Miller, 59, who is also a newspaper editor, is charged with two counts of sexual interference and two counts of sexual assault relating to incidents involving one person under the age of 16 in Sarnia, Ontario back in 1989. The counts stem from an investigation into when Miller was a youth basketball coach in Sarnia.
One of the men convicted in a high profile double murder in Tsawwassen, back in 1990, has been granted full parole. The decision was made at a Parole Board hearing for axe murderer Derek Lord - who has been serving a life sentence for the brutal killings of Sharon Huenemann and her mother, Doris Leatherbarrow, in their family home. Lord was 17-years-old when he and his buddy, David Muir, were hired by high school friend Darren Huenemann in a bizarre plot to kill the mother and grandmother for inheritance money.
