Summary
A man’s been shot dead on Vancouver’s Downtown Eastside. The victim was found by police near East Cordova and Carrall streets at around 3:30 a.m. Thursday. He died at the scene. The cops don’t know if the victim knew his attacker or if the shooting was targeted.

It was a traffic nightmare for those heading toward Surrey at the Port Mann bridge during the run-up to Thursday afternoon’s commute. A semi’s trailer flipped before the bridge, reducing traffic to a single lane. There’s no word on why it happened.
Late and over-budget. The new Vancouver Art Gallery is the latest big project to be hit by increased expenses and delays in B.C.’s construction industry. Work was set to begin in October - that’s been pushed back to some time in 2025. The project’s cost has increased by more than 50 per cent to $600M. There’s speculation it might have to be drastically scaled-back.
A high-profile MLA is pulling the plug on her election campaign following BC United leader Kevin Falcon’s move to suspend the party’s run and endorse the Conservatives. Prince George-Valemont MLA Shirley Bond says her decision came after talks with members of her family. Bond has had previous roles as interim leader, Deputy Premier, Attorney General, Public Safety Minister and Transportation Minister.
