Be aware if you get a phone call from someone claiming to raise money for Vancouver Fire Rescue Services. It’s likely a scam. VFRS is warning the fire department does not ask for money by phone, texts or email. The department does raise money for charities but not through this type of approach.
The Vancouver Croatian Cultural Centre is in big trouble after a CRA tax audit found it is in non-compliance in five areas. CityNews reports the tax authority has proposed a fine of nearly $437-thousand. In addition to the fine, the organization that operates the centre could lose its charitable society designation.
Unionized Air Canada pilots may stage a noon hour demonstration at YVR on Friday as part of an ongoing contract battle with the airline. Members of the Air Line Pilots Association are pushing for better wages and working hours. The pilots plan to picket outside the departures area.
