But first, the city is launching an economic and feasibility study. Locke made the announcement during her first official address since being elected mayor in 2022.
Other news…
A man’s been arrested in Abbotsford after two teens were run down by the driver of a car on Wednesday afternoon. Police say it happened near Princess and Victoria streets and appears to have be related to an argument. The two teens were taken to hospital in serious condition - a third teen was not hit.
2024 will be a terrible year for B.C. wine. The Wine Growers of British Columbia says this year’s vintage is facing close to a total wipeout due to that cold snap in the interior back in early January. Between 97 and 99 per cent of the Okanagan crop could be lost. The good news - conditions were not nearly as bad for wineries in the Fraser Valley and on Vancouver Island.
Some folks in North Van’s Deep Cove neighbourhood are a little concerned after a Cougar and her three kittens were spotted in a backyard. There are no reports of any aggressive behavior but the Conservation Service says people should be careful with pets and small children. Those spotting cougars are asked to call the RAPP line.
Friday will start of sunny with a few clouds and then become mostly overcast. Clouds and possible showers are expected all weekend. Highs will be close to 9C. Here are the latest conditions from our private weather station in Surrey.
