Donald Trump’s threatened tariffs will cost the B.C. economy $69B over the next four years - at least according to our provincial government. Several Vancouver Police officers are being investigated for neglect of duty in the tragic case of Chelsea Poorman - the 24-year-old Cree woman whose remains were found outside an abandoned Shaughnessy mansion two years after she went missing. When the skeletal remains were first found, Vancouver Police declared the death ‘not suspicious’ and recent. Members of Poorman’s family say officers dismissed their concerns with one telling Chelsea’s mother he had better things to do than work on missing people.
Earthquake proofing the Cambie Bridge could cost an extra $35M. City staff are asking council for the extra money as total renovation costs appear poised to hit $217M. The bridge, built in 1985, is not up to the current seismic code.
Richmond’s Malcom Brodie made close to $362,000 as mayor according to financial documents obtained by Global News. That’s $30,000 more than previously reported and makes Brodie one of the highest paid mayors in the country. The total earnings include benefits and expenses as well as compensation for Brodie’s work on several Metro Vancouver committees and TransLink.
