Summary
B.C. now has over a hundred confirmed cases of the measles including 18 in the two health authorities that cover the Lower Mainland. The majority of cases are in those who are not fully vaccinated. Health experts continue to express concerns that summer events and travel will lead to a rapid expansion of measles. The provincial government is advising people to contact their family doctor or call 811 if they suspect they need an updated shot.

He ignored an overhead sign about a police check ahead and now a driver from Surrey has been nabbed for speeding while using his cellphone. That driver was pulled over on Highway One and given $673 dollars in fines. Their car was impounded for seven days at the owner’s expense. RCMP say sometimes life gives you a sign to slow down and enjoy the ride.
Vancouver has banned under-the-sink garburators for new builds. The unanimous decision by City Council follows a growing trend to cut down on wastewater treatment costs and those so-called ‘fatbergs’ in pipes. Metro Vancouver spent close to $3M last year to remove congealed blobs from sewers.
Paul McCartney will not be coming to Vancouver during his Got Back 2025 tour. The Beatles icon’s North American tour dates have been announced and include three Canadian concerts: two nights in Montreal, one in Hamilton. McCartney’s last Vancouver concert swing was in 2019.
