Controlled burns will now be used in efforts to protect the Alaska Highway from the massive Donnie Creek wildfire that continues to rage in northeastern B.C. That fire is now more than 4,000 square kilometres in size. Meanwhile, there’s better news for those who were forced from Tumbler Ridge by the wildfire burning near that community. The evacuation order has been rescinded and while the 250 square kilometre fire is still considered out-of-control, cooler conditions are helping crews. The area will remain under an evacuation alert.
