Vancouver Rundown Friday March 15, 2024
Summary
Always take a bathroom break before boarding a gondola. That might be good advice after an electrical problem left dozens of skiers stranded on a gondola at Whistler-Blackcomb, Thursday afternoon. The Blackcomb Gondola stopped shortly after 4:00…the last of the skiers was taken off at around 7:15. No one was hurt.
Other news…
A body has been found in a recreational trailer after Surrey fire crews put out a blaze on 121A Street in Newton, Wednesday afternoon. The 25 foot trailer was engulfed in flames when firefighters arrived at the driveway of a home. At this point, there’s no word on whether the person died as a result of the fire. The home next to the trailer was not badly damaged.
A man and a woman have been arrested in a suspicious death at a home on the UBC Endowment Lands. RCMP arrived at a townhome after getting reports of a woman in medical distress late Wednesday night. That woman later died. So far, few other details have been released.
Expect to pay more for taking a BC Ferry starting April 1st. The ferry corporation plans to raise most fares by about 3.25 per cent. There will be some discounts for those who prebook for less busy sailings. BC Ferries claims the new rate system will help ease some of the congestion during the busiest times.
Expect more spring like weather for the next few days with highs in the upper teens. The chance of rain…zero. Here are the latest conditions from our private weather station in Surrey.
