Summary
The B.C. government has announced a new gang homicide team as it deals with 356 unsolved murders. The Integrated Gang Homicide Team is expected to take organized crime related killings off the plate of overworked IHIT members. Gang related homicides now account for 46 per cent of killings in B.C. - more than double the per cent only two decades ago.

It turns out the B.C. government knew it was hit by a cyberattack almost a week before making the news known to the public. B.C. United Leader Kevin Falcon is blasting that delay, calling it suspicious and aimed at burying bad news. Solicitor General Mike Farnworth claims the province runs the risk of making its systems more vulnerable to outside interference if a cyberattack is made public too soon.
A Coquitlam woman has died in Cancun, Mexico after being hit by a car. Kris Koverola was on vacation with her husband when the incident occurred on Sunday. She later died in hospital. A donation page has been set up to help her husband.
A sad note in Canadian journalism. Veteran broadcaster and newspaper columnist Rex Murphy has died at the age of 77. Born and raised in Newfoundland, Murphy became known to audiences across the country through his work in radio and TV at the CBC and columns at the Globe and Mail and most recently, The National Post.
