Summary
Two men have been found dead inside a home in Newton. Homicide investigators were called to the home on 151 Street Wednesday evening after Surrey Mounties were asked to check on the occupants. It’s believed both men knew each other and police are not looking for suspects. There is no risk to the public.

Two cops, one with the Surrey RCMP and the other with the Surrey Police Service, face possible charges in a wrong-way driver crash last June. The IIO says it happened after officers responded to reports of an indecent incident involving a man and a woman in the parking lot of Green Timbers Urban Forest. The driver sped-off when police arrived. The IIO has referred its report to Crown prosecutors noting there is reason to believe the officers pursued the driver before a multi-vehicle crash.
A YouTuber from Abbotsford has been ordered to pay $350K in damages for defaming a business. The Abbotsford News reports a B.C. judge has ruled Phil Dong was relentless in his YouTube campaign against a Texas-based man and his point-of-sale services to nail and beauty salons. Court documents say the business operator and his associates were called scammers, fraudsters, communists and thieves. Those statements, made in Vietnamese, went viral. Dong is also banned from making any further comments against the man and his business.
A wildfire burning about 25 kilometres from Hudson’s Hope is now listed as ‘being held.’ The fire quickly grew to about 300 hectares after being spotted on Sunday. The fire danger rating in the north eastern corner of B.C. is extreme.
