Summary
Golden Ears Park north of Maple Ridge is closed until further notice thanks to damage from the recent heavy rain. The stormy weather has cut into river banks and park roads and left lots of debris. The campgrounds are closed. There will be no vehicle access to Golden Ears until further notice.

Anti-Israeli protesters have filed complaints against Vancouver Police, accusing officers of using excessive force. The protesters say VPD officers made unlawful arrests and conducted unnecessary surveillance at events around the city. They have the support of the BC Civil Liberties Association and the anti-police Pivot Legal Society. One of two complaints presented to the Police Board relates to the arrest of 14 people at a demonstration on Grandview Highway at Kaslo at the end of May.
A Vancouver firefighter is recovering from minor injuries after a late Thursday morning house fire at East 33 and Argyle. No one inside the house was hurt. There’s no early word on a cause or the extent of damage.
A judicial recount will be held Nov 7. and Nov 8. in Surrey-Guildford. The NDP’s incumbent MLA, Garry Begg, beat his Conservative opponent by only 27 votes. At stake is the NDP’s razor-thin majority government which holds 47 seats - the minimum needed to form a majority.
