The White Rock Muslim Association is demanding a B.C. Conservative candidate withdraw over racist comments made on social media. Brent Chapman, who is now running for the Conservatives in Surrey South made a Facebook comment calling Palestinians “little inbred walking, talking, breathing time bombs.” Chapman’s defenders point out he has since apologized and the original post was made close to nine years ago. The Chair of the White Muslim Association says his community does not feel safe being represented by someone who has made such hateful statements on more than once occasion.

Former Vancouver City Councillor and immigration services advocate Maggie Ip has died. Ip was well-known as a co-founder and original head of the immigration services group SUCCESS. Flags will fly at half-staff at City Hall in honour of Ip.
A pilot is uninjured after crashing a small plane into a field in Langley. It happened at around 2:00 p.m. Thursday near 272 Street and 84 Avenue. Mechanical issues are likely to blame.
