Vancouver Rundown Monday April 8, 2024
Summary
BC United leader Kevin Falcon tried his best to rally party faithful at a Vancouver campaign event on Saturday. Falcon told attendees that this is an exciting time with lots of party members going through training and campaign prep. His election hopes come as BC United’s polling numbers are half of the NDP’s and about the same as the BC Conservatives. Final voting day in the B.C. election is October 19th.
Other news…
Delta’s Acorn Mill, along the Fraser River, was hit by an early Sunday morning fire. It took almost 12 hours to put all the flames out. There’s no word on a cause but nobody was hurt.
We may never be told the full story behind Thursday’s province wide Amber Alert for a missing baby and his mother. That baby was reported okay by staff at Langley Memorial Hospital late Friday - the circumstances behind how he turned up there are being kept quiet. Earlier reports suggested the mother did not have custody of the child and the baby was taken by a woman from a home on 208 Street just north of 72 Avenue in Langley, Thursday afternoon.
Don’t expect anything to celebrate in terms of Monday’s eclipse…at least not in the Lower Mainland. Clouds and showers will make our view next to impossible…and Western Canada will only get a partial eclipse anyway. The best show is happening with the full eclipse which will be visible in parts of Atlantic Canada, Quebec and Ontario.
Clouds and rain for Monday. Windy at times. Tuesday and Wednesday will be partly cloudy. Here are the latest conditions from our private weather station in Surrey.
