Summary
Targeted but not a gang hit. That’s the word from investigators after a father and his 13-year-old son were killed in their Richmond home Thursday night. The slow release of basic details continues to worry those in the neighbourhood around Goldsmith Drive. No arrests have been made and who knows if there are any suspects. Police claim they are working to determine a motive - names of those killed were still not released over the weekend.

Vancouver Police are investigating the death of a woman, found at the Astoria Hotel, a DTES SRO, over the weekend. There’s no word yet on the apparent cause of death. At this point, investigators are trying to figure out if the death was a crime or the result of something else.
An employee of North Vancouver’s Capilano Suspension Bridge Park is in critical condition after being struck by a car. It happened on Friday night and there are indications the driver blew through a red light. Trauma counselling is being brought in for fellow employees of the tourist attraction.
The term ‘atmospheric river’ is again being used to describe the heavy rain that’s expected to continue through the rest of Monday. That said, this storm is expected to be much shorter and weaker than the one that flooded roads and farms back in the fall of 2021. The main worry here is that the heavy rain coincides with unusually high tides that are expected over the next couple days.
Here are the latest conditions from our private weather station in Surrey.
