Summary
Breaking News: A body has now been recovered in a weekend landslide that hit a home before closing the Sea to Sky Highway near Lions Bay for hours. That confirmation came early Sunday evening. Searchers are continuing to look for a second victim. The slide happened on Saturday, blocking the highway between Squamish and West Vancouver. Canada Task Force 1, along with at least one dog, has been involved in the search and recovery effort.

Exclusive: Vancouver Rundown has learned one of the Coastal Class ferries almost ran aground, hitting the breakwater near Birth 1 at the Tsawwassen Ferry Terminal. It was coming to the terminal on Saturday from Duke Point when it happened. Staff are concerned there’s been no comment from BC Ferries or the union about the incident.
A woman has been killed by a falling tree in South Surrey. It happened near 176 Street and 29 Avenue during Saturday’s windstorm. At one point, close to 200 thousand BC Hydro customers were without power on the South Coast as high winds knocked trees and branches on to power lines.
A deadly stabbing in the Guildford area of Surrey has claimed the life of a woman. Investigators say two people were found with stab wounds on 108A Avenue early Saturday morning. The other victim is recovering from serious injuries. There’s no word on suspects or arrests.
Monday is regular voting day in the Cloverdale-Langley City byelection. John Aldag forced the byelection after deciding not to complete his four year term as a Liberal MP - instead he ran for the provincial NDP and was soundly defeated in the fall election. Advance turn out has been very light in this byelection.
Some people hoping to take a ride on Stanley Park’s Christmas Train had their plans derailed Friday night. The Vancouver Park Board’s announced the train is closed until further notice due to a worker safety issue. Reservation refunds are now in the works.
