Summary
Rain, rain, everywhere. A flood watch has been posted for the Fraser Valley including Sumas Prairie as mild temperatures and several days of heavy rain combine. High stream flow advisories are also up for much of the South Coast. A small rockslide caused a brief closure of Burnaby’s Barnet Highway late Saturday. Lower Mainland drivers continue to contend with deep puddles in many low lying areas.

That slight break in Lower Mainland gas prices is coming to an end. While many have already noticed a slight hike at the pumps, local refinery issues will likely lead to higher prices until Burnaby’s smelly Parkland Refinery is back in full operation. Experts expect the average price will be about $1.85 per litre by mid-week.
An arrest has been made in Vancouver’s first homicide of 2024. A man was found dead inside a home at East 33rd Avenue and Knight Street early Sunday morning. A 39-year-old man was arrested at the scene.
Oops. Now Premier David Eby is saying sorry after members of his team posted the wrong text with a statement marking International Holocaust Remembrance Day. That post, shared by social media users, stated:
This province has no place for bigotry and racism. We stand with the Muslim community throughout Canada on this sorrowful day of remembrance.
Eby says the mistake was noticed and removed immediately but should not have occurred. He says, “ I’m very sorry for any pain it may have caused, and the distraction from such an important day.”
Expect more rain Monday with some strong wind later in the day. Temperatures will stay stable and mild at around 13C. Here are the latest conditions from our private weather station in Surrey.
