Vancouver Rundown Monday July 14, 2025
Summary
Dozens of properties, campsites and a popular golf course are included in a wildfire evacuation east of Princeton. The still-small August Lake wildfire is about 2 kilometres from the town and burning out of control. The fire, which broke out Saturday afternoon, is thought to be human caused. Meanwhile, BC Wildfire crews have been dealing with several other new fires that started over the weekend including ones in Manning Park, Keremeos and the Cowichan Valley.
Breaking News: At least two air ambulances and several ground crews have responded to a multi-injury crash on Highway One in the Fraser Canyon. It happened just before 4:00 Sunday afternoon, north of Boston Bar. Attending crews were also advised of a new but small wildfire in that area.
Other news…
A cyclist has been killed, two others are badly injured, after being hit by a car during the GranFondo event in Penticton. RCMP say it happened when a driver’s car struck a group of cyclists Sunday morning. Last year, a cyclist died in the Okanagan GranFondo in what organizers described as a non-event related incident.
No one is seriously hurt but first responders used a chute to evacuate a WestJet plane at Vancouver International Saturday night. The flight suffered a minor engine fire while coming into YVR from Tampa. Close to 50 passengers slid down the chute out of an abundance of caution.
Mostly sunny Monday. Windy at times. Inland highs near 27. Tuesday sunny and warmer. Wednesday - more sunshine. Here are the latest conditions from our private weather station in Surrey.
