Summary
The Canadian Armed Forces and the Canadian Coast Guard have now joined in the effort to battle B.C.’s high number of wildfires. They will join the close to 2,000 firefighters from our province who are already being helped by those from more than half a dozen countries. So far, two B.C. firefighters have died on duty this season.
Environment Canada has updated its predictions for B.C. and the news isn’t great. Drought conditions are expected to continue for the next two months, at least. Only a slight chance of a few drops of rain is expected Monday - not nearly enough to change the wildfire conditions or provide relief for those areas struggling with a lack of water.
