Summary
The Izman Creek wildfire, north of Lytton, is now 245 hectares and expected to grow over the next couple days. Temperatures on Monday and Tuesday will be in the low 30s in that area and then cool down with strong winds on Wednesday. Highway 12 between Lytton and Lillooet remains open even as crews fight the fire from the ground and air. The wildfire started back on Canada Day when sparks from an RCMP trailer ignited brush.

Unionized workers at Surrey’s Sheraton Vancouver Guildford hotel have walked off the job. The strike by 140 Unifor represented staff comes after they rejected a tentative agreement. Wages remain the main issue. The hotel remains open with some service disruptions.
A motorcycle rider is dead after slamming his bike into the side of a road in South Surrey. It happened at around 8:45 Saturday morning on Crescent Road near 132 Street. The adult man could not be revived at the scene.
A man is expected to recover after being attacked by a grizzly west of Fort Nelson. The attack happened at a remote fly-in location. The bear attacked after the man spotted two cubs nearby. The injuries include bites and scratches. A nearby work camp helped in the evacuation.
