Summary
One person remains missing after a passenger vehicle went off the road and into the Squamish River early Saturday morning. It happened at around 3:00 a.m. along Squamish Valley Road. Three others managed to make it to safety. Searchers have not been able to find any trace of the missing person.

Crews are fighting a new wildfire just west of Kamloops. The fire started early Sunday afternoon and is now being fought from the air. Ground crews will be at the fire, on the north shore of the Thompson River, on Monday. It’s not known what sparked the blaze.
Dozens of people packed the Reflections Banquet Hall in Surrey for a public safety forum focused on recent extortion attacks in the South Asian business community. One organizer says he got a death threat linked to a demand to pay $2M. RCMP and politicians continue to stress the need for those who’ve been threatened to immediately call police.
Vancouver’s Gastown will be going car free - but only on Sundays. Water Street will be closed to vehicles on Sundays through to the end of August. The move will allow many bars and restaurants to set up temporary patios. The City of Vancouver says entertainment zones will be set up for families and tourists.
