Summary
A swatting-style prank phone call to police prompted a shutdown on Vancouver’s Waterfront SkyTrain Station on Sunday morning. Transit Police say the bomb threat came in to 911 operators at about 10:30 a.m. The station was immediately cleared and shutdown for a couple hours. A suspect has not been arrested.

Close to three dozen people are displaced after a fire swept through a North Vancouver seniors’ complex Saturday. Smoke from the fire blanketed much of the North Shore prompting an air quality advisory. Five people needed to be assessed by paramedics, two were rushed to hospital. A fire in the same building, three years ago, killed one person and displaced 70 others.
RCMP are seeking witnesses to a bad crash on Highway 5, just south of Kamloops, that involved an unmarked Highway Patrol cruiser. An officer along with two others in a pickup had to be taken to hospital after the vehicles collided at around 8:30 Saturday morning. There’s no early word on the cause.
One of Vancouver’s best known condo marketing firms has cut 25 per cent of its staff. Marketing mogul Bob Rennie’s firm has laid of 31 people in response to a changing market, according to a company post on LinkedIn. Real estate sales have declined in the past year and experts expect the number of unsold units will soar to 60 per cent by the end of 2025.
