Summary
Two people have been killed in the Friday evening crash of a small plane, south of Squamish. It went down in a mountainous area west of Howe Sound during bad weather. A smartphone fall indicator was the first sign that something went wrong. Search and Rescue members had to be called in over the weekend to reach the crash site.

The Broadway SkyTrain extension out to UBC has been delayed until at least the fall of 2027. The tunnelling and excavation work has been taking longer than expected. Business owners along the Broadway Corridor are outraged with the new timeline. The B.C. government is not offering any compensation related to business impacts.
Charges are likely after a high speed motorcycle vs car crash on 72 Avenue in the Clayton Heights area of Surrey. Three people were injured including the rider who went to hospital under police escort. RCMP say those in the Air One helicopter had been watching the rider driving dangerously before the crash.
Crews battling wildfires in the northeastern corner of the province say the region is seeing a ‘tremendous amount of fire.’ Close to 2,500 square kilometres is burning right now - the Parker Lake and Patry Creek fires near Fort Nelson are still the largest. The area has been under thunderstorm advisories over the past couple days.
