Summary
A BNSF train derailed on the easter edge of Delta’s Burns Bog early Sunday morning and surprisingly some serious questions are being missed or ignored by most reporters…the exception being those at the CBC. What was in the tank car resting on its side? How far is that car and the rest of the train from the stream that runs through that area? Or even this - what environmental impacts are possible and who is on the scene from the Ministry and City of Delta to check out the company’s claims? Most online media has reprinted the BNSF holding answers and claims that nothing is leaking along with the diversion statement of no one was hurt. CBC, at least, questioned that statement and discovered there has in fact been a small spill. This happened in one of the Lower Mainland’s most environmentally sensitive wildlife habitats and there’s been a tanker derailment…serious but true facts.

Cases of avian flu in the Fraser Valley’s poultry sector continue to surge. Almost three dozen cases have now been reported and most are blamed on wild birds.
