Other news…
It’s a strange one involving these elements: a protest, a tractor crash, and one person arrested. The driver of a tractor and an RCMP cruiser collided as police tried to pull it over on Highway One near 176 Street in Surrey on Saturday afternoon. The tractor driver was taken into custody and treated for minor injuries. So far - there’s no word on the backstory behind this.
One person’s been killed in an early Saturday evening crash on Chilliwack Lake Road. RCMP say a pickup sheared a utility pole and ended up in a residential property. Several ambulances, including an air ambulance, were initially called to the scene along with fire crews. The victim died at the scene.
The Fraser Valley continues to deal with an outbreak of avian flu - two more cases were reported in the Chilliwack area over the weekend. That brings the total in the Valley to at least 11. The Canadian Food Inspection Agency says at least five million birds from Valley farms have been destroyed in the past year-and-a-half.
Expect it to be mostly sunny and very cool right through Wednesday. It’s back to showers to close out the month on Thursday. Highs should remain on the plus side of zero. Here are the latest conditions from our private weather station in Surrey.
