It’s all over for Kevin Falcon’s BC United. The troubled political party has suspended its campaign for the upcoming provincial election with Falcon saying he personally won’t run for re-election. Some of BC United’s candidates will run under the BC Conservative banner - Falcon says his party is officially endorsing the Conservatives. Recent polls have had BC United in fourth place, behind the Green Party.

Once again, HandyDART drivers are a step closer to going on strike. The drivers, members of Transit Union Local 1724, have rejected the latest contract offer and are prepared to walk-off-the job within 72-hours. The union claims turnover and staffing issues are key sticking points.
A Tuesday evening apartment fire has displaced close to 50 tenants in Maple Ridge. The fire on 119 Avenue near 223 Street broke out after the dinner hour, destroying a couple suites. Two people were taken to the hospital for possible smoke inhalation.
Close to 150 films will be featured at this year’s Vancouver International Film Festival. The film lineup for the 43rd edition includes some top names such as Nicole Kidman, Samuel L. Jackson and Stanley Tucci. This year’s festival runs Sep. 26-Oct.6 on 10 screens across Vancouver.
