Charges have now been laid against an anti-SOGI protester who crashed a farm tractor in Surrey in November last year. The crash happened on Highway One near 176 after a lengthy slow speed police pursuit from Chilliwack. Bill Shoker of Chilliwack is charged with fleeing from police, dangerous operation of a motor vehicle and assaulting a police officer. Just before the crash, several videos were posted to Facebook with Shoker saying his name while sitting in the seat of a John Deere tractor. He explained it was part of a Chilliwack to Vancouver convoy to protest SOGI 123 - a sexual orientation educational resource in schools.
A pedestrian has been struck and killed in New Westminster. It happened Wednesday morning on McBride Boulevard near Queens Park. Traffic was snarled in all directions, including those leading to the Pattullo Bridge, for much of the day.
BC Ferries is cancelling several Thursday and Friday sailings on the Horseshoe Bay to Departure Bay run. It’s apparently due to maintenance on one of the ferries - no other details are being made public. Refunds are being offered to those who have already made bookings.
Periods of rain Thursday, windy at times. A mix of sun and cloud for Friday. Back to rain for Saturday. Here are the latest conditions from our private weather station in Surrey.
