Summary
A trucking company behind several high profile overpass hits is asking the courts to overturn its suspension. Chohan Freight Forwarders says it’s suffering losses of close to $1 million a week and its status is stuck in limbo - this after Commercial Vehicle Safety and Enforcement pulled an operating certificate in connection with the Dec. 28 crash into the underside of the 112 Street overpass on Highway 99 in North Delta. It was the last straw following several other overpass strikes in recent years. The company blames an independent contractor for not following height restrictions. The company also argues its current employees and owner operators are now suffering economic hardship.

You won’t be able to drive on Water Street in Gastown this summer. Vancouver city council has approved a pilot project that will shutdown a block of the street near the steam clock. The July and August test-run is part of Vancouver’s plan to revitalize Gastown as a safe and decent enough place for tourists to hang out.
Starting now, you won’t be allowed to buy ‘nicotine pouches’ unless you ask a B.C. pharmacist. The new provincial rules are aimed at curbing sales to youth. The products will no longer be for sale in convenience stores.
Vancouver’s Oakridge Centre is going upscale. The shopping centre is being rebranded as Oakridge Park and will have Louis Vuitton, Prada and Versace outlets. It’s all part of a major, mixed-use redevelopment aimed at making the Cambie and West 41st location a city hub for those with more cash than the usual person.
A mix of sun and clouds continues for Thursday and Friday. The weekend will have little to no sun with rain on Sunday. Here are the latest conditions from our private weather station in Surrey.
