Vancouver Rundown Thursday January 16, 2025
Summary
SFU has made it official - the football team is no more. Simon Fraser says the university is facing an uncertain financial climate and the football landscape has changed significantly. The SFU football program started back in 1965 and has been recognized as one of the best in the country. It was put on hold in 2023 after the Texas-based Lone Star Conference decided not to renew its affiliation.
Other news…

The Brothers Keeper gangster was sent to prison last year for his part in a couple of killings. One claimed the life of an unintended target - a university student in Abbotsford.
A pedestrian has been hit by a train in Chilliwack. It happened late Wednesday afternoon near the Eagle Landing Parkway. An air ambulance was dispatched - there was no immediate word on whether the person survived. Back on Jan. 3, a woman was killed after being hit by a train near the Yale Road Overpass.
The drinking water stinks and may taste ‘off’ in Abbotsford and Mission. Water quality notices have been issued after many people noticed discoloured water due to sediment in the system. Officials say its safe to drink - there are no health issues.
Mainly cloudy on Thursday…showers are likely with gusty wind near the water. A mix of sun and cloud Friday. Mainly cloudy Saturday. Here are the latest conditions from our private weather station in Surrey.
