Vancouver Rundown Thursday March 20, 2025
Summary
A Canada-wide search is underway for a Surrey man after a murder in the Northwest Territories. Twenty-two-year-old Krystian Cogswell is charged with one count of murder, one count of attempted murder and a count of aggravated assault after a man was found shot dead in a home in Fort Providence over the weekend. Two others were wounded. Police believe Cogswell is armed and dangerous and is likely headed south. The killings are believed to be linked to the drug trade.

A five-year-old boy has been found safe after wandering away from a day camp in Mission. Search and Rescue along with RCMP, police dogs and staff spent much of Tuesday looking for the boy after he went missing near Hayward Lake. He was spotted by those in an RCMP helicopter a kilometre away. The boy is uninjured.
Construction has finally started on a major drug rehab centre in Vancouver. The Withdrawal Management Centre is being built on a lot near 1st Avenue and Clark Drive. The facility, approved by the City five years ago, is a replacement for the aging Vancouver Detox Centre on East 2nd.
The City of North Vancouver has approved more than $4M for fixing the damage from last October’s atmospheric river. Heavy rain caused both sewer damage and creek erosion. Most of that money will go toward bank stabilization next to Thain Creek.
