Vancouver Rundown Thursday March 28, 2024
Summary
Beware of the fake hydromorphone pills making the rounds in the Lower Mainland. That’s the warning from Vancouver Coastal Health after counterfeit tablets laced with opioids were discovered…something that can easily lead to overdoses. This is the second dope alert from VCH this week…a pink powder being sold as tusi (or tuci) has been found to contain ketamine, MDMA, and benzos.
Other news…
Be prepared for some big delays if you plan to use SkyTrain over the long weekend. Service will be temporarily delayed for maintenance on Saturday…especially near Waterfront Station. Riders are being told to allow for an extra 20 minutes in their commute times.
The Surrey Police Union will not be allowed intervenor status in the court dispute between the City of Surrey and the B.C. government. A judge has ruled the union’s allegations of bullying by the RCMP against the new Surrey Police Service would hijack the case over who gets to police the city. Fourteen members of the union have filed a group grievance claiming 50 cases of intimidation, harassment, bullying and discrimination by the Surrey RCMP.
The provincial government has given the environmental ’thumbs up’ to an LNG jetty project in the Fraser River off Delta. The Tilbury Marine Jetty Project still needs federal approval and several other provincial permits.
The mixed bag of unsettled weather continues with a combination of sun, clouds and rain for Thursday and Friday. Saturday is still expected to be sunny with highs in the mid teens. Here are the latest conditions from our private weather station in Surrey.
