The B.C. NDP hold a lead over the Conservatives heading into the Oct. 19 vote according to a survey by communications firm Fairview Strategies. Of the 800 B.C. residents surveyed, 37 per cent are prepared to vote NDP, 32 per cent Conservative and 8 per cent Green. Almost 16 per cent are still undecided. The poll was conducted before Tuesday’s televised leaders’ debate.

It’s a loss for the dozens of people trying to prevent the removal of trees from Stanley Park. Vancouver’s park board has voted to remove large trees that have been killed by the hemlock looper moth and are now considered a public risk. The decision comes after the park board heard from 37 speakers opposed to removing the dead trees.

A motorcycle rider has been killed in a Tuesday evening crash in West Vancouver. It happened shortly after 11:00 p.m. along Marine Drive in the Eagle Harbour neighbourhood. Police are trying to figure out the circumstances but say there were no witnesses.
