A large fire in South Surrey destroyed a Quonset-style building and closed part of 176 Street for several hours early Wednesday morning. Neighbours reported hearing several explosions and seeing flames shortly after 3:30 a.m. It’s believed the building operated as a mechanics’ shop. Fire inspectors are trying to figure out the cause.
Three teens have been arrested in the Okanagan after video emerged showing a violent attack on a girl at a Kelowna beach. RCMP say they were notified about an incident at Gyro Beach last week. They say the attack was witnessed by close to 30 teens - most of whom ran-off as police started arriving.
WestJet has been ordered to pay a woman close to $1,400 compensation for a three day delay due to a cancelled flight from Vancouver to Terrace. The BC Civil Resolution Tribunal called the 67 hour delay unacceptable and rejected the airline’s claim the hotel costs were excessive. WestJet’s been ordered to pay the woman for the hotel stay, clothing and toiletries.
