A growing wildfire has forced some residents to evacuate west of Grand Forks. More than 150 properties were part of an evacuation order Wednesday evening. Another 500 were on evacuation alert. The 200-hectare Goosmus wildfire was discovered on Wednesday.

Both the NDP and the Conservatives are promising relief to tackle B.C.’s housing crisis. The NDP is promising to offer loans to first time homebuyers for up to 40 per cent of the cost on one of the new homes in its affordable housing program. The Conservatives are proposing a tax credit for renters and homeowners for households earning under $250,000 per year.
A pair of raids in an industrial area of North Surrey has netted a huge cache of drugs, guns and even explosives. Police also seized a couple of stolen cars, license plates and radio jammers. Police have made a number of arrests but there’s no word on charges.
The death of a woman, whose body was found at a home in New Westminster’s Queensborough neighbourhood, has now turned into a homicide investigation. The 38-year-old woman was found dead on Tuesday afternoon - police are not commenting on the circumstances. Investigators are still trying to piece together what happened.
