Vancouver Rundown Tuesday April 2, 2024
Summary
No arrests have been made in the failed shooting attempt on Brothers Keeper gang leader Jagraj Atwal. It happened late Saturday afternoon and both Atwal and a passenger were able to escape after gunmen opened fire on their SUV near Robson and Richards streets. Last week, another Brothers Keeper thug survived being shot in the Fleetwood area of Surrey.
Other news…
Outrage continues to grow around the Lower Mainland after the price of gas increased by at least three cents a litre due to the ramped up carbon tax. That put the average price at just over $2 a litre but as high as $2.09 at some Metro Vancouver service stations. A group calling itself Nationwide Protest Against Carbon Tax staged a small demonstration on Highway One near Hope on Monday afternoon.
A bad crash on the I-5 between Seattle and Bellingham caused big delays for drivers, including those heading north to B.C., Monday afternoon. A 43-year-old man was killed after driving in the wrong lanes and causing a rollover crash near Arlington. Three others were badly hurt and the interstate remained closed from about 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.
It’s another sign the seasons are changing. Night skiing has now ended at Cypress and all runs will be closed after April 14th. Grouse is also reducing its hours as of this week. Whistler-Blackcomb hopes to remain open until May 20th.
Rain beginning Tuesday afternoon. More Rain Wednesday. A mix of clouds and sun for Thursday. Here are the latest conditions from our private weather station in Surrey.
