Summary
Even without any snow, Vancouverites can experience a terrible commute when a North Shore bridge shuts down. A crash on the Stanley Park Causeway leading to the Lions Gate brought traffic to a halt in both directions Monday afternoon. Vancouver Fire Rescue was dispatched to help with an extraction after a car flipped on its side just before 4:00 p.m. Two people were seriously hurt. There’s no early word on what cause this. Feeder routes leading to the bridge ground to a halt as drivers looked for alternatives.
Other news…
Homicide investigators are trying to figure out the story behind a body, found in a car in Newton early Sunday morning. Mounties were called to a spot on 62nd Avenue, east of Scott Road, after people reported a suspicious vehicle. That’s when they spotted a dead person inside. Police don’t believe there’s any risk to the public.
There’s a strange development after Ibrahim Ali was convicted of killing a 13-year-old girl in Burnaby. Defence lawyer Kevin McCullough now says he was told by police that some brought a gun into the courtroom with the intent to kill on Friday afternoon. McCullough claims he was told the gun was loaded. McCullough previously claimed he received death threats during the court proceedings.
Vancouver will soon have the largest Tesla service centre/showroom in North America. Beedie has been tapped to build the 120-thousand square foot facility in the Strathcona neighbourhood. The facility is expected to be completed early in 2026.
Tuesday will be another day with a mix of sun and clouds. Rain comes on Wednesday and stays with us for most of the week. Here are the latest conditions from our private weather station in Surrey.
