Selina Robinson is out as B.C.’s Post Secondary Education Minister. Robinson has resigned from her Cabinet post following a backlash to her remarks about Palestine that included: “a crappy piece of land with nothing on it.” She also says she won’t run for reelection. Robinson, who is Jewish, provided a voice to B.C.’s Jewish community following the Oct. 7 Hamas attack on innocent Israeli citizens, according to Premier David Eby.

The April, 2022 fire at the Winters Hotel has been ruled accidental by a coroner’s inquest jury. Two bodies were found in the ruins of the DTES SRO more than a week after the fire. Five others were hurt and close to 140 people were displaced. One of the many jury recommendations included BC Housing eliminate the use of SROs in private buildings.
A pedestrian has been killed after being struck by a train near near the New Westminster waterfront. It happened at around 3:30 p.m. Monday and forced the West Coast Express to skip its New West stop during the emergency. Investigators hope to talk with witnesses to figure out why it happened.
