Summary
Mayor George Harvie and members of his city council are expressing outrage over two nights of emergency room closures at Delta Hospital. Several concerns, including a lack of nearby alternatives, have been outlined in a letter to Premier David Eby and Health Minister Josie Osborne. ER nurses provided first aid and redirected emergency cases over the weekend following closures due to a lack of doctors. Delta South Conservative MLA Ian Paton blames the NDP government for closures that he says continue year after year.

The Jim Pattison Group is suing Metro Vancouver over repair work on sewer lines near Waterfront Road in East Van. The suit claims the regional district’s work resulted in over-pressurized lines that damaged the Canadian Fishing Company operation. It says that damage was caused by negligence. A statement of defence has not yet been filed.
A revenue sharing agreement has been signed which will see cash flow from the Vancouver International Airport to the Musqueam. It’s said to be the first federal infrastructure to have any revenue sharing with an Indigenous group. Musqueam Chief Wendy John calls the deal groundbreaking.
Neil Young will be performing in Burnaby late this summer. Young and the Chrome Hearts will play at Deer Lake Park on Sept. 6 as part of the North American leg of the Love Earth world tour. Tickets go on sale Friday morning at 10:00 a.m.
