Summary
Students at Surrey’s Clayton Heights Secondary are receiving grief counselling after learning police shot an autistic Grade 10 classmate dead on Sunday. Family members say the 15-year-old was not suicidal and not carrying a real gun despite what officers believed when they opened fire. The Independent Investigations Office continues to look into the actions of police - standard protocol when any person is injured or dies.

David Eby goes to Washington. The B.C. premier is in DC trying to convince lawmakers and labour leaders to speak up against Donald Trump’s tariffs on Canadian products. Eby says his 48 hour tour will concentrate on trying to convince Americans such tariffs are bad for business and consumers on both sides of the border. The trip has the blessing of the Council of Federation which represents Canada’s premiers and territorial leaders.
One person has been wounded in a drive-by shooting in Coquitlam. It happened at around 9:00 Monday morning near Lea Avenue and Dogwood Street. A short time later a vehicle was torched in Burnaby - typical for a gang style shooting.
Columbia Bible College in Abbotsford says it will no longer be hosting the basketball provincials. The move comes as the school fights back over allegations its players and a coach mistreated a trans student and player from Vancouver Island University. The Pacific Western Athletics Association has finished its investigation into the allegations but has not yet released its findings.
