B.C. Hells Angel Damion Ryan is one of three people now indicted in the U.S. on conspiracy charges for an alleged plot to kill two folks in Maryland three years ago. The U.S. Justice Department is building a case that links Ryan and two others, including a Canadian co-accused, to planned hits as part of an international organized crime plot. Ryan has already been serving time in a Manitoba prison on an unrelated matter.

Lawyers for convicted child killer Ibrahim Ali have applied to have the charges/conviction dropped. They contend the Syrian refugee’s Charter Rights were violated because the court proceedings did not happen in a reasonable amount of time. Ali is convicted of first degree murder in the death of a 13 year old girl in Burnaby.
‘Construction challenges’ may be to blame for more delays in completing the controversial Trans Mountain pipeline. The Crown corporation responsible for the expansion says it’s encountered problems between Chilliwack and Hope. The company still expects the higher volume pipeline will be in-service by the second quarter of 2024.
The City of Abbotsford is using this past weekend’s heavy rains as the reason why it need the federal government to come forward with $1.6 billion for infrastructure under the Disaster Mitigation and Adaptation Fund. Mayor Ross Siemens says the city has done its best but now it’s up to the provincial and federal governments. Farmers in the eastern part of Abbotsford were hard-hit by flooding during the atmospheric river storms two years ago. Siemens tells Global News that smaller floods now make residents very anxious.
