A snowboarder from Richmond has been found dead at Cypress. The 21-year-old, was found in a gully next to a ski and snowboarding run. It followed an extensive search effort. The man was skiing with friends when he was reported missing late Friday morning.

A hitman has been sentenced to life in prison with no parole for at least 25 years for a killing at a Japanese restaurant in Richmond. Money launderer Jian Jun Zhu was shot dead at the Manzo Japanese Restaurant in September of 2020. Another diner was injured. Richard Reed, who is now 26, was also sentenced for firearms charges in addition to his first degree murder sentence.
Some pharmacists have resumed paying off patients for their prescription business according to the College of Pharmacists of B.C. The professional body has fired off a letter to the Health Minister asking for immediate action to stop the prohibited kickbacks. Many of those payments were made on Vancouver’s Downtown Eastside. Last year, the practice stopped after widespread media and government attention.
More people are taking the train between Vancouver, Seattle and Portland. Ridership on the Amtrak Cascades fell just shy of a million passengers in 2024. That’s a record for the route and up from 746,000 passengers in 2023. Amtrack Cascades runs two daily roundtrips from Vancouver to Seattle and six trips between Seattle and Portland.
