Developers are spending up to a quarter million dollars to build parking for new developments according to a report from Metro Vancouver. The regional government’s planning department claims parking remains ‘oversupplied’ from a usage standpoint. It also claims parking isn’t used by 47 per cent in condo buildings and 35 per cent in rental buildings. The report’s been commissioned as part of planned changes to Metro Vancouver’s parking strategy.
A body has been found after a house fire in Surrey, about a block east of the King George SkyTrain Station. The discovery was made late Sunday afternoon. The death is being treated as suspicious.
A winery in the South Okanagan has been fined and banned from hiring Temporary Foreign Workers. It’s the second non-compliance order for Oliver’s Desert Hills Estate Winery, owned by Randhir Toor. Two years ago, Desert Hills was fined $90 thousand for its part in a province-wide immigration scam. The new fine is for $118 thousand.
