Kelly Ellard’s day parole has been revoked. Reena Virk’s killer - who legally changed her name to Kerry Sim - has lost her day parole over positive drug tests and negative behaviour. She’s also been called an undue risk to society by the Parole Board. Ellard is serving a life sentence for second degree murder for her part in the savage 1997 killing of the 14-year-old in Victoria.

A 33-year-old woman is recovering from severe burns after being intentionally set on fire on a Langley street early Saturday evening. RCMP say it happened near 203 Street and Fraser Highway when the woman was hit with an unknown substance. The motive is unknown and no suspect has been identified.
A three-year-old girl has died after being hit by a car in a residential area of Surrey. Paramedics could not revive the toddler after being called to a townhouse complex in the Panorama area Sunday evening. The driver stayed at the scene and is cooperating with the police investigation.
The Hudson’s Bay company is back in court fighting a save its deal that would grant some former store leases to B.C. billionaire Weihong Liu. Some of The Bay’s biggest lenders want the deal scrapped and accuse what’s left of the iconic department store of mishandling the wind-down. The Bay wants that challenge tossed.
