Summary

A small, Monday afternoon wildfire above Horseshoe Bay closed the Sea-to-Sky Highway in both directions at the Highway One junction. Smoke could be seen across Howe Sound but the fire itself only grew to a few hectares. At least one water tanker based in Kamloops and several helicopters were fighting the fire by mid-afternoon.
Breaking: The BC Wildfire Service is deeply concerned following reports of drones or UAVs over a new wildfire near Port Hardy. The Glenlion River fire was reported late Monday afternoon, prompting a quick response with several aircraft. The Wildfire Service hopes to use air tankers and helicopter through the day on Tuesday but is asking for cooperation from the public. It’s believed the fire is less than 10 hectares in size.
