Summary
While many critics question the acumen behind B.C.’s safer drug supply policies, the provincial government is keen to expand the program. Public Health Officer Dr. Bonnie Henry confirms that while the current model requires those drugs be distributed in a ‘clinical setting,’ that could change so users aren’t discouraged from participating. The B.C. Coroners Service says more than 12-thousand people have died of illegal toxic drugs since 2016.
