Vancouver Rundown Tuesday March 11, 2025
Summary
You won’t be able to buy any American-made booze in B.C.’s government liquor stories. Premier David Eby says the BCLDB has stopped purchasing American beer, wine and spirits. The stores have also removed all existing stock from the shelves. It’s the latest counter response to Donald Trump’s on-again-off-again tariffs on Canadian goods. Eby claims British Columbians don’t even want to see those American products on the shelves anymore.
Other news…
Fewer Canadians are taking road trips to the States. Stats Can reports a 23 per cent drop in car trips during the month of February. Meanwhile, most travel agencies are showing only a slight drop in air and cruise travel to the U.S.
There’s a significant uptick in flu cases across the Fraser Valley. Fraser Health says there’s a late season surge - which isn’t in itself, unusual. The health authority says the increases are for both influenza A and influenza B but it’s not too late to get a flu shot.
Another commercial truck has hit a Lower Mainland overpass. This time it’s a garbage truck that hit the 112th Street Overpass at Highway 99 in North Delta. Even though it happened at 7:30 Monday morning, there were no notable traffic disruptions. The BC Highway Patrol is following up with the driver and company involved.
Periods of rain on Tuesday. Rain mixed with snow at higher elevations. Gusty wind late in the day. Rain on Wednesday. A mix of sun and cloud for Thursday. Here are the latest conditions from our private weather station in Surrey.
