Summary
David Eby remains atop the latest opinion poll. A new Angus Reid Institute poll finds the B.C. premier has the support of almost half of British Columbians in this election year. Eby trails only his counterparts in Manitoba and Saskatchewan as having the most popularity. The poll comes after last month’s provincial budget the broke records with a $7B deficit.
Other news…
“I am writing to offer my sincere apologies for the failure to accommodate your virtual attendance at a meeting late last year, especially considering the new addition to your family” - that is part of the official apology from Vancouver Mayor Ken Sim to Park Board Commissioner Laura Christensen. It comes after Vancouver’s Integrity Commissioner issued an 11-page report finding the mayor’s actions at fault for not allowing Christensen to remotely or virtually attend a critical meeting on the Park Board’s future. Christensen had been at home, attending to a newborn child.
A 32-year-old woman has died in some sort of incident at Whistler-Blackcomb. The ski resort won’t fill-in any details, but that incident happened over the weekend. The Vancouver woman had become separated from her group while skiing…the ski patrol later found her unresponsive.
Lawmakers on the U.S. West Coast may be a step closer to brokering a deal to stop changing the clocks on both sides of the border. A California state senator is in talks with leaders from Washington and Oregon…something that could end up going to a vote in November. Still - California wants to stick to standard time. B.C. would prefer daylight saving time.
Here comes the sun! At least after a few lingering clouds and showers on Tuesday. There is even a chance of temperatures hitting the upper teens by the weekend. The latest conditions from our private weather station in Surrey.
