A man from Alberta has died in an avalanche north of Revelstoke. It happened Sunday afternoon on Sale Mountain where the snowbiker was buried by a size 2 avalanche. The 58-year-old was pronounced dead after being airlifted to a medical centre in Revelstoke.
Three local First Nations are backing Mayor Ken Sim’s plan to eliminate the Vancouver Park Board. The Musqueam, Squamish and Tsleil-Wauthuth have issued a joint statement saying they also want a commitment from the City and B.C. governments to update the charter so it includes language consistent with the United Nation’s Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples. The province has already asked the City of Vancouver to approve a transition plan that includes input from First Nations.
A B.C. judge has approved a class action settlement that will see Apple paying up to $14 million for throttling older iPhones. Apple has denied it uses software to slowdown the devices but has agreed to terms that don’t include any admission of wrongdoing. B.C. claimants could get between $17.50 and $150, depending on how many users have filed.
