Summary
Canada Post will likely be hit by a strike on Friday. The Crown corporation says its received notice from the Canadian Union of Postal Workers the 55,000 members will be on strike exactly when their current contract expires. On Friday, a government-commissioned report said the post office should phase-out daily door-to-door delivery. That recommendation has been blasted by CUP-W. This would be the second strike at Canada Post in less than a year.

A woman has died at a popular climbing area near Squamish. On Friday afternoon, the 22-year-old fell from a slackline in the Cheakamus Canyon area. Victim Services was called-in to help several people who witnessed the fall.
RCMP are looking for a man believed responsible for a series of attacks in Burnaby’s Metrotown area. RCMP say they know of at least three attacks on Saturday, including one in which an employee was pushed and another person was punched at the Bob Prittie Library. None of the four victims has serious injuries.
Weather experts now say there was a funnel cloud above parts of Metro Vancouver during Saturday afternoon’s brief thunderstorm. A storm watcher witnessed a rotating cloud near Cloverdale while parts of Coquitlam, Maple Ridge and Langley also experienced thunder and hail. A severe thunderstorm warning was issued for several areas for a short time early Saturday evening.
