Breaking: The pilot and lone occupant has survived the crash of her small plane east of Agassiz. The Cessna crashed into a field between Highway 7 and the Fraser River on Seabird Island early Monday evening. A witness reported seeing a small fire with the plane.

Vancouver Coastal Health is concerned about a cluster of recent whooping cough cases in the Pemberton area. Parents are being urged to immediately get their kids vaccinated. Whooping cough - also known as pertussis - is a serious bacterial infection that attacks the airway. It’s usually associated with young children but can also attack adults. Those living in Pemberton and the nearby First Nation are being asked to closely monitor any symptoms with family members.
